Forty in Peru

August 29, 2013
It only took just over a month to post pictures from my 40th birthday but here are some pictures to document the event...
First of all, our long time friends, David and Salli Cobb decided to come celebrate my birthday as well as their wedding anniversary with a long weekend in Lima.  It was great to be able to have some friends around to help ring in the new decade.
The kids enjoyed the cake and singing but of course they were most excited about heading to Paracas the following day for a short holiday adventure.

Heading out to dinner sans kids.

The Cobbs and I spent the afternoon of my birthday taking in the sights of Lima.
The next morning we loaded up the car and headed south to Paracas, Peru.  Brian and I have been there before last January but we knew the kids and the Cobbs would enjoy it as well.

The first stop in Paracas was heading to the sand dunes and cruising around as well as some sand surfing.  It was a hit among everyone.  Sand managed to find its way into every crevice but the kids did not seem to mind one bit.

Gorgeous scenery

The kids were fearless!  The slopes were so steep yet they had no fear heading down the sand slopes.

My trio heading back up the dunes.  One of Graham's friends said it looked like a scene out of Star Wars.

We also spent time on the beach.  It was much to cold to enjoy the water but they were able to hunt for shells and play in the sand.

The following day we headed to the Ballestas Islands.  The kids really loved being able to see all the animals in their natural habitat.  They could not believe the massive numbers of sea lions, penguins and other birds that were there.

Celebrating with friends and family make for a great way to kick of this new adventure people call FORTY.
