Mortified and Beautified

Scene of the Mortification: TARGET

Waiting for our turn to check out.
G: (Loudly) Mom, is that an old lady?
Mom: In as quiet a voice as I can muster, shhh that is rude you do not call people old.
G: (Even Louder). Then what is she?

Drop everything and run out of Target mortified and never return again. Must find new Target to shop at.

On a complete separate issue, my blog got beautified over the weekend. I just love it! Go here to check out who did it and here to read her blog.

Not Me

Summer is here and we are in full swing with camps, swim lessons, play dates, and down time. Lets face it, we have a lot of down time. Every so often we can get on each others nerves. So my children decided 3 kids were not enough in this household. They needed another. Let me introduce you to the newest member of our family…first name Not, last name Me.

For example:
I walk into the bathroom to find the toilet paper shredded into tiny pieces.
Who did it? Not Me

I walk into the kitchen and find water all over the floor by the fridge.
Who did it? Not Me

Some child is crying…
Who made your brother/sister cry? Not Me

I walk into my closet and half my clothes are pulled of the hangers.
Who did this? Not Me

Someone did the Goldfish dance all over my freshly mopped floors.
Who did it? Not Me

Apparently Not Me is the reason we get on each others nerves every once in a while.
Or maybe I should keep a better eye on everyone and Not Me will decide to join another household.

Singing girls

The girls were singing together for about 5 minutes before I went to video them. It never fails that once they notice me videoing them they stop whatever it was they were doing. You can't tell what they are singing but they apparently know what they are saying to each other. I even tried to get them to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, but Layne was sure to let me know that she was NOT going to sing that song and continued with the one on the video.

The things they say...

Graham:
  • Be careful, this is glassable. This is in reference to something breakable.
  • As I am walking out of his room at bedtime he says, "Mom, will you always protect me from the Orcas?" It was so random because we were not even talking about Orcas.

Layne:
  • Hide me, Mama. She is wanting me to play hide and seek.
  • Who is ready to eat to eat dinner? Layne running to the table says, "Me, I am hungy. Me, Me, Me..."

Bryce:
  • I am scared. LaLa scares me. Graham has a singing Santa Claus that freaks out Bryce. You press the foot and it sings Fa, La, la, la...hence the name LaLa.
  • Bryce woke up real early one morning so I attempted to let her lay in the bed with me until the others woke up. As I got her settled on the pillow and under the covers she looked over at me and unprovoked said in her sweetest voice, "I love you, Mommy!"

Tonsils In, Tonsils Out

Today was the big day of removing Graham's tonsils and adnoids. He has been preparing himself for the last couple of weeks. He went in like a champ and did great as he waited for his turn. He did everything the nurses asked him to do.

This is Graham prior to his surgery.

This is him resting at home after his surgery. We were in and out of the surgery center in less than 3 hours. Right after waking up from the surgery he cried HARD for about 10 minutes then the morphine kicked in and he fell asleep in my arms for about 30 minutes. He slept most of the day. His sisters were very concerned about him and insisted on being with him in our bed. It was very sweet.
This is a stuffed star that the nurses gave him. It has not left his side since we got home.

We are very thankful that everything went smoothly today. I am hoping the rest of the recovery goes just as smoothly. Giving Graham all the medication has been the main challenge. He HATES it all. I have been negotiating and bribing to get him to take all 5 different medications. I will either be broke by the end of 10 days or he will just think of it as part of life but I don't want him screaming and crying and hurt his throat in the process of it all.

I am off to medicate...him not me but I may need it by the end of all this.

Move over Danica Patrick...

Here comes Bryce and Layne! The girls spotted Graham's Halloween costume up in the closet and insisted on putting it on even though it was well into the 90's. They loved it. They actually love anything of Graham's.
