What the ???

Last Sunday, we were enjoying a beautiful day outside when the most shocking thing happened to Layne. She came over to get a drink when I noticed she had 3 little welts above her eye. So, I walked her inside to take a better look. As I got her inside the welts spread across her face and her eyes began to swell. I immediately gave her Benedryl but it seemed like her face was swelling at a rapid rate. So, I scooped her up and took her to Acute Care. On the drive over, I kept asking her if she felt ok and if she remembered if something bit her. She could not remember anything biting her.

What the ??? could have caused such a reaction?

By the time we got to the doctor office, which was no more than 10 minutes away, she had welts all over her body and her eyes were almost shut. It was quite a site! Luckily her breathing was steady the whole time and her breathing was not compromised. I was so worried that her throat might swell up. Once we got into the office they whisked us back and began to check her lungs and throat to double check that it was fine. Thankfully it was! They ended up giving her a super dose of steroids in the office. By the time we left the office I could see the steriods working. After all the swelling went down, I searched her body for a bite mark and found one on her ankle. The unfortunate part is we don't know what bit her. Hopefully this will never happen again but if it does I want to know what little creature is causing such a mess!
Layne was such a trooper during this whole ordeal. She never cried and took her medicine like a champ. She is my sweet Laynebug...hopefully it was not a ladybug that bit her.

Pumpkin Patch minus one

October is one of my favorite times of the year. I love taking the kids to local Pumpkin Patches in the area. However, this year is a little different since Graham is in Kindergarten now. He is actually going with his class on a field trip to visit a Pumpkin Patch next week, so I took the girls minus Graham this year.
Bryce and Layne had a blast with Ella and Bennett. They got to feed animals, take a hay ride, go through a hay maze and of course look for pumpkins.

I love this picture of Bryce and Ella sharing their snack.

State Fair...Forget Oprah we want rides!

We ventured to the fair on Monday and the kids declared it the best day ever. Oprah was taping her show at the fair on the same day, so the crowd was in full force. Luckily, Graham, Bryce and Layne had no interest in looking for Oprah and only wanted to get to the part of the fair that included the rides. Kids in front of Big Tex. I had a hard time getting a picture as the kids wanted to look at Big Tex instead of look at me. Thankfully the girls wanted to ride in their stroller most of the time. It was quite stressful keeping up with 3 kids with the amount of people at the fair.
Checking out the yellow camaro that looks like Bumblebee from the movie Transformers.

Bumblebee!

And so the rides begin and we become broke...I can't believe how much they charge for a short ride! Graham really wanted to ride a "big" rollercoaster this year. Brian had agreed to ride with him if Graham was tall enough. Fortunately for me, he was NOT! I am sure by next year he will be tall enough to brave one of those scary rides. For now he stays on the kid rides, which is perfectly fine by me!

Bryce and Layne got their fair share of rides in and loved it just as much! I love seeing how excited their little faces get when they are on the rides.

These last 3 pictures are just random but I thought I would just throw them in here!
