Sugar Loaf

October 10, 2016 Monday

After Christ the Redeemer, we headed to Sugar Loaf.  It is one of the best 360 views of the city.  You take cable cars up to the top for a lovely view of the city.  Even with the cloud cover we were still able to enjoy the scenery!

On our way up the the Sugar Loaf!

Touring Rio: Christ the Redeemer

October 10, 2016 Monday

Today was our big tour day of Rio with a guide.  We were picked up bright and early at 8:00 am and we were all geared up for the next 8 hours of touring the city.  Once we stepped outside we realized the sun was no where to be seen and we were going to have a very overcast day.  While the clouds made for pleasant temperatures it made the normal gorgeous blue skies and views a little grey.  But of course we tried to look on the bright side and enjoy the beautiful city of Rio De Janeiro.

1st stop Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer is one of the 7 Wonders of the World.  It was a magnificent sight, even in the clouds!

Rio De Janiero, Brazil

October 9, 2016

Spring Break in South America continues to amaze us.  This year we headed to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.  We stayed at our first AirBnB and the first time we travelled with no "itinerary".  6 full days of relaxation with some touristy things thrown in here and there.
View from our apartment on Copacabana Beach

We arrived early Sunday morning and spent the first part of the day catching up on sleep.  We then headed over to the Hippie Market in Ipanema.  It is only open on Sundays so we had to make sure we were able to get some shopping done!

We strolled on Copacabana beach for the rest of the day...checking out the beach and all the surrounding shops and restaurants.  It was low season in Rio, so there did not seem to be a lot of tourists.

Our first Caparini drinks!  Very sugary and delicious.

There were sand castles up and down the beach!
