Take a knee

Game 2 of Tball was just as exciting as game 1 (as far as T ball goes). The Leopards even threw out 3 players is a row. Graham had fun despite the cold and wind. At the end of the game the coach had the players take a knee while he spoke to them. Graham had no idea what he meant by that. It was quite hilarious watching him try to figure out what that meant. Luckily, he did.

I love this expression! He also has a piece of grass in his hand. I picture him saying, "That was a pretty good game."

Collapse!

Play hard, sleep hard! I have always said that I have never had a kid that just falls asleep while they are playing.

That changed today.

Bryce collaspsed from apparent exhaustion while playing in her room today!

Windy, Chilly, Lazy Sunday

The kids and I planned to go and purchase some flowers for our "garden" today. Graham has really been into growing things and wants to plant seeds. However, the weather shifted, yet again, and it was cold and windy all day. So instead, we opted to have a lazy Sunday and stay in our pajamas all day long. I guess the yard work will have to wait a few more days. This is the plant that Graham has been growing inside our house for the past week and inspired him to want to plant more. Its' name is Hairy Harry Graham. He planted this at school. I asked him how he picked the name for his plant and, of course, he could not remember. I told him that was his Great Grandfather's name...Harry Graham. Graham thought that was so funny. He said Hairy Harry Graham all day long!

The kids entertained themselves all day. I did not even have to turn the TV on at all...which is a small miracle. Graham and Layne cleaned the kitchen for me while Bryce was still sleeping. They had to change clothes after all the cleaning because thier shirts were soaked more than the counters.Later in the day, the kids were "camping" and this is how I found them when I realized all was too quite in the house.

Layne pretending to snore in her bed!

Bryce squeezed herself into a corner.

And Graham climbed up and made a spot for himself on the changing table! I guess I should be relived that he was the one on there and not Bryce or Layne!

We got a ball player...I think!

Today was Graham's first T-ball game. He has been looking forward to it all week. He even had special guests, Sophie and Sharon, there to cheer him on. He played outfield, third base and pitcher. He did the best at pitcher. He was able to field all the balls that came his way and successfully throw the ball to first base.

The girls enjoying the hill. Thank goodness for the hill or the girls would have wanted to leave a lot sooner.

Look at those dirty pants! It is from all the sliding (or playing in the dirt) during the game.

Hitting the ball and running as fast as he can to first. Check out the background with all the other players swarming the ball.

Graham is at the pitcher's mound and is fielding the ball and THROWS the opposing player out at first. In Graham's words as he comes off the field, "Did you see me throw that dude out?"

In other news today, Layne ate broccolli, cooked carrots, and snap peas with her dinner tonight! I am beyond thrilled. We may, just maybe, turning into an everybody eat the same meal family. Hopefully, my short order cook days are over. I say hopefully because the boy still hates anything that might remotely be healthy, except water!

The Time Out Twins

This is what Bryce and Layne look like when they are in timeout. Check out the major differences in their expressions. Could not be more opposite! Layne was very upset that she had to take a timeout for throwing her brother's brand new remote control car. She was not ready to give up her turn...On the otherhand, Bryce decided she wanted to be in timeout as well and picked up the car and threw it across the floor. So here they sit!Luckily they both got over it very quickly and joined Graham playing with his new car.
Our sweet dog, Buzz just turned 14 years old in January. The kids absolutely adore him. He has gotten sweeter in his old age.
By the way, Graham did not put himself to bed tonight. He did all the pre-bedtime routine on his own but he still wanted me to tuck him in and kiss him goodnight.

Huge Sigh

Graham asked me this evening at bedtime when was he going to be allowed to go to bed by himself.

(Huge SIGH)

I told him he could try to do it all by himself tomorrow night.

He told me I could give him his good night kiss at the bottom of the stairs.

Of course I am proud that he is growing more independent but I will be waiting at the bottom of the stairs just in case he calls me up.

If this is what 5 is like bring back 4.

A day in the tulips...not!

We planned to spend the day at the Dallas Arboretum and enjoy the blossoming tulips. However, the children had other plans and tulips were not part of it. After over an hour traffic jam to get there the kids were in no mood to sit and pose and look pretty for the camera. So instead of seeing beautiful background greenery, we have kids frolicking everywhere but near the flowers.
Three B's: Bryce, Bennett and Braxton

If you want to see what the Arboretum really looks like go here and you can see beautiful flowers.
