10 Girls and A Boy

Bryce and Layne finished off their birthday celebrations with a party at a Larco Mar bowling party.  The girls only wanted girls but of course we insisted that they include their brother in the festivities.  I would presume the girls thought it was a blast because at one point all the girls were chasing Graham and hitting him with balloons.

I thought getting a group shot of girls would be a piece of cake.  They proved me wrong.  I did the best I could and these girls enjoyed being silly.  In the end I think theses pictures capture them beautifully.

Layne was super excited to eat cake.  She said its been 2 years since she had a  cake with flour!  She is so good about monitoring herself.  She only ate 1/4 of it.  She was happy  for a few bites and gobbled up the ice cream.
The girls were very thankful for all the presents their friends gave them.  They could not wait to tear open the presents and play.  Happy Birthday, Bryce and Layne!

Ocho Anos

Eight.  Years.  Old.

Sometimes I still cannot believe I am the mom of the 2 most amazing little girls.  They bring me so much happiness, joy, and love.  I am so proud to call them mine.

This morning they woke up a little older.  8 years old.  They have seen and done more in their 8 years of life that took me forty to accomplish.  They are living on their third continent, learning a third language, but ask them where they want their birthday dinner to be... they pick Chili's.  Just like their brother, they want a little taste of Americana no matter where they reside.  So this morning Bryce and Layne enjoyed their birthday muffins for breakfast and opening presents.  This evening we head to Chili's to dine on fine American food.  On Sunday afternoon, the girls will have a small birthday bowling party with their girlfriends from school.

Happy 8th Birthday, Bryce and Layne!

The candles were just a bit out of control.  It made for an interesting morning.

Ready to conquer the world as 8 year olds.

Semana Santa

The girls had the entire week off of school for Easter.  I guess it is one of the benefits of starting back earlier in February than Graham and it being a Christian school.  Graham and Brian joined the holidays with days off on Thursday and Friday. It was a great time to enjoy some family time without worrying about school and work.

So we kicked off Holy Thursday with some friends and headed to the beach.  The weather is definitely turning into fall/winter.  The water was extremely cold and with the sun behind clouds most of the day it was a tad bit chilly.  However, that did not stop everyone from relaxing and having a great time.

These 3 actually played in the surf and caught waves while body boarding.

Graham's face is priceless as the cold water crashes into him.

Bryce, of course, only dipped her toes in the water.
Bryce and Heidi preferred to look for crabs and stay warm.

We spent Good Friday in Miraflores.  We are trying to enjoy the outdoors for as long as possible.  I am already dreading winter weather and it is not even here yet.  While the pictures do not reflect the sun very well, we did have peeks of sunshine throughout the entire time we were out and about.  We only live about 20 minutes from the coast but the weather is drastically different.    At our house it was pure sunshine.  Not a cloud in the sky.  But the coast seems to be headed for winter a little bit sooner than where our house is located.

On Saturday, Layne was the only one that wanted to color eggs this year.  I guess it is a dying art in our family.  I will say though it was definitely easier and less messy supervising one child instead of three.

However all 3 received some treats from the Easter Bunny and enjoyed hunting eggs the morning of Easter. It was nice to be able to celebrate Easter with new friends and and in a new country this year.  We found other Texans here in Peru, so we celebrated with a Tex Mex fiesta and swimming in the pool.  I have no actual pictures from Easter Sunday!  I guess I was just too busy enjoying the day to think about getting out the camera.

Feliz Pascua!
