TSR~Three Sheets Ranch

July 2013

Once Brian headed to Texas, we all packed up and headed toward The Ranch...AKA TSR  AKA Three Sheets Ranch AKA Ranchos Tres Sabanos!  We spent 5 days out at the ranch with different sets of family and friends meeting us out there.  It was nice to get away and relax and turn off city life even if just for a few days.
Of course, TSR would not be complete without the newest addition...Texas A&M flag flying proudly.

The kids waiting for their friends to hurry up and get to TSR.

First to arrive was my Godson, Dutch!

Next to join us was The Reids, they were able to squeeze in a quick trip to TSR to hang out with us before they had to head back to Singapore.  The kids had a great time riding around the property and shooting guns.  In general, enjoying the great outdoors.

Graham checking out the pond.  Hopefully if the rain continues to fall nicely the pond should be filled in a few of years.

Layne searching for deer in a deer stand.

My nephew, Jacob joined us as well with my parents.

Trying to capture frogs.

Graham and Jacob searching for deer and wild hogs.

Bryce wasn't a big fan of shooting guns.  I think the guns were all just a bit to heavy for her.

The moon was full while we were there and so bright.  It lit up the entire sky.

We look forward to spending another week at TSR next summer.  I love the memory making and traditions we are creating at Three Sheets Ranch!

Summer Sun and Fun

July 2013

July kicked off in Texas.  After 3 weeks in wintery Peru, we welcomed the summer heat of Texas.  In all honesty, when we arrived to Houston they were experiencing a "mild" July.  I do not think we ever reached 100 degree temps the entire time we were there.  Once again, I cannot believe the lack of quality pictures.  I never used my real camera until we got to the ranch.  So once again these pics are all from my phone...
The girls were especially cuddly with Grandad the whole time we were in Houston.   It probably  helped that he let them do whatever and eat whatever they wanted the entire time we were there!  I guess that is what Grandads are for.  :)

Game of Clue!
Fourth of July was spent with friends of my sister.  The kids swam all afternoon and then shot fireworks in the street.  This was the first year to spend the 4th in Houston and I had forgotten you were allowed to pop fireworks in your neighborhood.  The kids loved it!  I, on the other hand, was a nervous wreck.

We had lots of pool time while we were in Houston!

Cuddles again with Grandad!  Notice the ice cream in hand.
Big news of the trip was Layne lost both her front teeth while we were at Sky High!.  She did a flip off the trampoline into a ball pit of foam and out the teeth came.  The teeth were ready to fall out so luckily Layne did not freak out when she realized they came out.
Trying to stop the bleeding.  It did not take long.  :)

Her new smile.
Snow cones helped beat the summer heat!

One weekend I was able to jet off without the kids and head to Austin to visit my high school BFFS.

The kids were also able to swim and play at a lake.  Graham got an ear infection from all the swimming we did and he unfortunately missed out on the lake fun :(.

Can you spot Bryce and Layne?

We even had special visitors all the way from Singapore.  The Reids made it to Houston and we were lucky enough to be able to spend some time with them.

Of course, more Grandad cuddling!  Next on our Texas agenda is heading to the the Ranch...

Journey to Lima,Peru

June 2013

Our journey to Lima, Peru potentially would have been the longest plane ride we as a family would have been on.  It could have been over 30 hours!  So we opted to stay a couple days in Houston, where grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins could help alleviate some of the jet lag.  Not to mention a tiny bit of shopping.

Overall, the kids did great on the plane ride over.  The kids were able to enjoy business class for the first time!  Graham now says he can never go back to economy again.

Our stop in Houston was short and apparently, I never got out my camera!  All the pics are from my phone and there aren't many...

Once we left Houston, we headed to Lima and stayed at a hotel until our things from Singapore arrived.  I will say that our things arrived much sooner than I anticipated.  It was a pleasant surprise.

Another big surprise was how COLD it is here in Lima.  It feels much colder than it actually is.  We definitely were not prepared for the cold weather.  3 years in the tropics of Singapore did not prepare us well for Winter in Peru.  I would compare the weather to San Francisco.  Cold and Gray and Misty. Apparently the sun rarely comes out in winter.

Bryce, Graham and Layne in the hotel lobby.

The kids visiting our empty apartment.

Peruvian show at our hotel.

According to the children the best part of the  hotel was the vents just outside the doors.  It provided much entertainment as we waited to be be picked up or walk anywhere.  They loved the windblown look.

On Father's Day we took a walk down to Larco Mar which is a very touristy place to go in Mira Flores.  There was a park the kids could play in and it was nice to get out and see a bit of the city.

Traffic in Lima~ it is a free for all here.  I don't know if I will ever drive here.

My Singapore friends sent me a plant as a house warming when we moved in to our place.  PS  I love my kitchen.

Kids at Daddy's office.

They spend alot of time together!
After about 3 weeks in Peru, the kids and I decided to spend the month of July in Texas.  Brian would join us later in the month.  So we packed up and headed to Houston.  The flight was a 2:00 am flight so needless to say the kids all feel asleep on the way to the airport.   Graham was the only one who had trouble staying awake while we waited for our flight!  Brian surprised us with business seats since I was traveling alone with the kids.  Needless to say American Airlines business class was nothing compared to United or Singapore Airlines.  My kids just kept asking where the "beds" were and why wasn't there a TV?  Secretly, I wondered the same thing.  SPOILED.  ROTTEN.

Kids slept the entire plane ride to Houston.  Just about a 7 hour flight.  One of the best parts of living in Peru is that now when we fly to Texas  NO JET LAG!
